OUTDOOR ACTIVITES IN LUZ-ST-SAUVEUR
Summer sports...
At the lower end of the village, very close to our house, the open-air swimming pool is nice
and warm. You can have picnic on the lawn.
A horseback ride is traditionnally organized from Gavarnie village to the
cirque. Guided rides for all levels of equitation skills also take place from Barèges.
Considering the slope, confirmed cyclists will enjoy cycling around Luz-St-Sauveur. They
may like to relive the mythical stages of the Tour de France: "col du Tourmalet" and climb of Luz-Ardiden.
Mountain biking can be practised in summer in the ski areas, the numerous trails being accessible by chairlifts.
Many biking trails can also be found in the mountains around the village.
It is noteworthy that our house offers the possibility of storing bikes safely.
Of course, many other sports can be practised: Paragliding, trout fishing, tennis,
via ferrata, tree climbing, climbing walls, rafting at Soulom (10 km), etc. And why not experimenting bungee jumping from
"Pont Napoléon" (80 m high)?

...and winter sports
During winter, the snow falls in the valley. In spring, it is still covering
the top of the mountains. Luz-St-Sauveur is at the intersection of three ski resorts. Slopes adapted to every
skills can be found everywhere, but each resort has its specificity. Barèges/Tourmalet/La
Mongie (at 8 km) is the most extended skiing area of the Pyrenees, and you will enjoy skiing among the firs.
Luz-Ardiden (at 13 km) is a young and lively ski resort, where snowboarders
and good skiers will have great fun. In Gavarnie (at 20 km), you will find a marvellous landscape dominating the Cirque, and
long soft slopes that are perfect for beginners.
Cross-country skiing can be performed near all three resorts. Excursions with snowshoes, sometimes with specific themes,
are proposed by guides. At 10 km drive from Luz, Gèdre has a beautiful ice skating rink.

There is a time for everything. After sport, you will enjoy spending a nice moment in the spa hot water unless you prefer to go back and look at the touristic resources of the region.
